Ahlul Bayt News Agency - Head of the Committee of Gaza’s Border Crossings, Maher Abu Sabha, urged the Egyptian authorities to open the Rafah border crossing permanently and round the clock so as to allow some 90,000 stranded Palestinians access out of and into blockaded Gaza on humanitarian grounds.
Abu Sabha said in a statement posted on his Facebook page “90,000 humanitarian cases need to pass through the border, 15,000 among whom have been registered for urgent travel.”
The list of stranded passengers includes 3,500 patients, 50% among whom diagnosed with cancer, and 2, 500 students.
He warned of any attempts to pull the wool over Palestinians’ eyes, saying it is a shame that official parties are having a share in attempts to hurt the feelings of the Palestinian citizen.
Abu Sabha called for the need to join forces and launch appeals to unblock the Rafah crossing permanently so as to alleviate the agonies endured by a coastal enclave blockaded by the Israeli occupation for eight uninterrupted years.
